A Tremendous Success For Children! Snuggly Soiree Benefit at the Home of Ann & Gordon Getty Benefiting The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund & UCSF Children's Hospital
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – March 9, 2007. Over 500 guests gathered on Thursday, March 8 for the “Snuggly Soiree” at the home of Ann & Gordon Getty to raise awareness for the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund at UCSF Children’s Hospital. The evening was a huge success with over $145,000 raised for the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund.
A joyful evening was had by all ages, as it was truly a family affair. The atrium of the Getty home was transformed in a children’s fantasy carnival which included teddy bear making (where children could also make and donate a teddy bear to the Children’s Hospital), face painting, gourmet teddy bear cookie decorating, a visit by SF Giants’ mascot Lou Seal, and arcade games for all ages from Riptide Arcade, along with homemade child friendly food. Throughout the rest of the main floor, the adults enjoyed cocktails and sumptuous passed hors d’oeuvres along with visits throughout the evening by Mayor Gavin Newsom, UCSF Medical Center CEO Mark Laret, UCSF Children’s Hospital Director Roxanne Fernandes, and UCSF Children’s Hospital Chief of Pediatrics Dr. Sam Hawgood. A fabulous Carneros Inn package complete with a two night stay, spa visits, dinner, and wine made for an exciting raffle. As the guests departed they were handed a fabulous gift bag filled with a Snuggly Soiree teddy bear embroidered fleece blanket, Glogau Hydra Flight Cream (which when purchased a portion of the proceeds is donated to the fund), Hermes leather goods, Sociale restaurant gift cards, Bliss product and more, completing the fun filled evening of teddy bears, great food, and fabulous company.
Sponsors of the event included Anshen + Allen, Neutrogena, Restylane, Pamala & Theodore Deikel, Kanbar Charitable Trust, Dede Wilsey, All Stars Helping Kids, Arcadia Homes, Revance Therapeutics, Divine Girls, RLM Executive, Sheila Burns & Family, The Jeffries Family, The Kimball Family, Maryon Davies Lewis, Yvonne & Angelo Sangiacomo, Basic Brown Bear Factory, Bliss, PlumpJack Group, and Sociale.
The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund was established at UCSF Children's Hospital by Dermatologist Dr. Richard Glogau and his wife, Pamela Baj Glogau, to provide support for pediatric patients and their families. UCSF Children's Hospital cares for children from across the United States. This fund helps fill special needs that insurance and government funds cannot provide helping patients throughout critical hospitalization and long periods away from home. Funds are used for food, transportation, housing, medications, special medical equipment, interpreters, tutors, and amenities.
UCSF Children's Hospital is ranked one of the best children's hospitals in California and is renowned for its integration of medical research and clinical care. The staff of doctors, nurses and other health professionals are leaders in their fields, and have built a reputation for pioneering work in the special care of children, high-risk obstetrics, organ transplantation, cancer care, cardiac care, neurosurgery and orthopedics.
