A Tremendous Success For Children! Snuggly Soiree Benefit at the Home of Ann & Gordon Getty Benefiting The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund & UCSF Children's Hospital
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – March 14, 2008. Over 350 guests gathered on Thursday, March 13 for the “Snuggly Soiree” at the home of Ann & Gordon Getty to raise awareness for the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund at UCSF Children’s Hospital. The evening was a huge success with approximately $240,000 raised for the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund.
A joyful evening was had by all ages, as it was truly a family affair. The atrium of the Getty home was transformed in a children’s fantasy carnival which included fuzzy teddy bears for all the children, gourmet teddy bear cookie decorating and other arts & crafts activities and arcade and carnival games and prizes for all ages from Riptide Arcade, along with organic homemade child friendly food. Throughout the rest of the main floor, the adults enjoyed cocktails and sumptuous passed hors d’oeuvres along with visits throughout the evening by Barry Bonds, Mayor Gavin Newsom, UCSF Children’s Hospital Director Roxanne Fernandes, and Interim-Dean of UCSF School of Medicine Dr. Sam Hawgood. A fabulous Elton John Oscar Party package complete with two tickets to the coveted Oscar night party, a two night stay at a hot 5 star LA hotel, and limo service made for a very exciting exclusive silent auction item with dueling bidders. As the guests departed they were handed a fabulous black sport backpack filled with a Snuggly Soiree teddy bear chocolate brown umbrella, a magnum of St. Francis’ award wining zinfandel etched with the Snuggly Soiree teddy bear logo, Relastin skin products, Coco-Luxe gourmet chocolate bars, Jelly Belly gummy bears, PopChips and more, completing the fun filled evening of teddy bears, great food, and fabulous company.
Sponsors of the event included Neutrogena, Restylane, Revance Therapeutics, Dede Wilsey, Pamala & Theodore Deikel, Carole & Robert McNeil, Jill & Rod Burns, Anshen + Allen, All Stars Helping Kids, Arcadia Homes, Lynn & Frank Ehret, The Annika Kelley Strain Foundation, Restoration Hardware, and St. Francis Winery.
The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund was established at UCSF Children's Hospital by Dermatologist Dr. Richard Glogau and his wife, Pamela Baj Glogau, to provide support for pediatric patients and their families. UCSF Children's Hospital cares for children from across the United States. This fund helps fill special needs that insurance and government funds cannot provide helping patients throughout critical hospitalization and long periods away from home. Funds are used for food, transportation, housing, medications, special medical equipment, interpreters, tutors, and amenities.
UCSF Children's Hospital is ranked one of the best children's hospitals in California and is renowned for its integration of medical research and clinical care. The staff of doctors, nurses and other health professionals are leaders in their fields, and have built a reputation for pioneering work in the special care of children, high-risk obstetrics, organ transplantation, cancer care, cardiac care, neurosurgery and orthopedics.
