Families Gather For Fun-Filled Snuggly Soiree Benefit at Getty Residence Over $180,000 Raised for Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund at UCSF Children's Hospital
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – March 6, 2009. More than 350 guests gathered at the home of philanthropists Ann and Gordon Getty on Thursday, March 5th, for the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund’s annual Snuggly Soiree, benefiting patients and their families at UCSF Children’s Hospital. The evening was a huge success with over $180,000 raised.
Guests of all ages enjoyed themselves at this lavish family affair. The atrium of the Getty home was transformed into a children’s play land with loads of cuddly teddy bears, gourmet teddy bear cookie and cupcake decorating, Nintendo Wii gaming, photobooth activities, Riptide Arcade games and prizes, face painting, makeovers from luxury cosmetic company Space NK, and platters piled high with homemade organic child friendly food.
Throughout the rest of the main floor, adults enjoyed cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres while visiting with special guests including Olympic Beach Volleyball Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh, Mayor Gavin Newsom and Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Star 101.3’s Don Bleu, UCSF Medical Center CEO Mark Laret, and UCSF Children’s Hospital Executive Director Roxanne Fernandes.
Bidders dueled on exclusive silent auction packages including a volleyball clinic with Kerri Walsh, a Bloomingdale’s party for six with Space NK, an MTV Movie Awards package in Los Angeles, and courtside Warriors’ seats along with a team autographed basketball.
As guests departed they received treat bags brimming with fun items including, back by popular demand, a Snuggly Soiree teddy bear fleece blanket, the hot new Flip Video MinoHD customized with a Snuggly Soiree teddy bear wrap, Relastin skin products, Space NK products, Godiva and Neuhaus gourmet chocolates, PopChips and more.
Sponsors of the event included Neutrogena, Revance Therapeutics, Allergan, Anshen + Allen, Restylane, Dede Wilsey, Pamala Deikel, Nicole and William Faidi, Connie L. Ho, Shelley Lazar, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Magowan, Carole and Robert McNeil, Jacklyn Jordan Rezai, Jordan and Brad Stephens, The Annika Kelley Strain Foundation, Barbara and Tom Wolfe, Bloomingdale’s, Space NK, and Flip Video.
San Francisco dermatologist Dr. Richard Glogau and his wife, Pamela Baj Glogau, established the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund to provide support for pediatric patients and their families at UCSF Children's Hospital. The fund fills special needs that insurance and government funds cannot provide to help alleviate stress on patients and their families during critical hospitalization and long periods away from home. Funds are used for food, transportation, housing, medications, special medical equipment, interpreters, and other needs identified on a case-by-case basis.
One of the nation’s top children’s hospitals, UCSF Children's Hospital creates an environment where children and their families find compassionate care at the healing edge of scientific discovery, with more than 150 experts in 50 medical specialties serving patients throughout Northern California and beyond.
